We decorated our tree last night! And it turned out beautiful, if I don’t say so myself :P
And boy oh boy was it an adventure getting this puppy to stand up straight. We purchased the tree at Costco on Saturday. We had a hot dog, and life was good. Then we went to WalMart to find a tree stand- all sold out of tree stands. Then we went to Target to buy a tree stand- the power was out at Target, and the generator had only turned on a few of the lights. We searched for a tree stand with a Target Team Member and a flash light for about 15 mintues, with no luck. Finally we went to Orchard Supply, where they had one size tree stand left. We bought said tree stand.
We came home to put the tree into the tree stand- it did not fit! We do not own a hand saw. We do, however, own an electric jigsaw. So, David spend the next hour and a half cutting down the tree to fit into the tree stand. We had a Christmas party to attend, so we could not decorate the tree Saturday as planned. We came home from the fabulous Christmas party to a tree that had tipped over. So on Saturday at midnight we were back out in the garage cutting the tree so that it was even and would stand up straight.
We woke up Sunday morning, and it was still standing! I never thought I would be so excited to see a naked Christmas tree in my life! We did a bunch of Christmas shopping on Sunday, and then visited Christmas in the Park in the evening, so we did not have a chance to decorate the tree. Monday night we were finally able to pull out all of the ornaments and ribbon, watch Elf, drink wine, and decorate!

[Life: Make] Peppermint Bark
Ingredients
14 oz. of white chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips (use the good stuff, guys!)
6 regular sized candy canes, crushed up
1 teaspoon of peppermint extract
Break up peppermint candy into little pieces. Melt the chocolate according to the instructions on the box. Once melted, add the peppermint extract and stir.Pour the melted chocolate (I like to layer white on top of dark but you could do any type of chocolate of course!) out onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and spread with a spatula. Sprinkle the peppermint candy chunks on to the chocolate and gently press in with yours hands.Place in the freezer for 5 minutes or until hardened. Break into pieces and serve or store in the fridge or a tupperware (or gift them in a cute holiday tin!)
We are doing Christmas at our place this year… for my side of the fam as well as hubby’s! It’s going to be a huge celebration! I am going to add this to my dessert table…](http://6.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kuarsmNl3C1qz7xu1o1_400.jpg)
